Of course after seeing the picture I drop everything and called her to hear the story. You see, at this point I had only told Ben, my parents, and a couple of close friends about Joy, so to see her get a gift like this was “odd”.
Our family friend, Julie Ballard, had given my Mom this gift. My mom opened it while sitting at her pew during the announcements. As soon as she opened it, with tears in her eyes, she turned to Julie a few rows back and mouthed “Do you know about Joy?”.
Of course she had no idea so after church my mom went to her and told her the story of our Joy. Julie laughed and told my mom the story behind the jar. She had 2 jars… one for another lady in their church, and one for my mom. She had the word “Encouragement” written on the chalkboard label and in the jar were little funny quotes, uplifting words, ect. She got my mom’s all ready and done and God told her “Erase encouragement on the jar you are giving to Teresa Raney and write JOY.”. So she did just that. 🙂 The “believe” bag is just icing on the cake. 🙂
