December came and went, and the month of January we were still taking down Christmas so we were still on our Joy high. While taking our Christmas decorations down I told Ben, “Man, I’m going to miss seeing Joy all of the time now that Christmas is over.”. I know, I know, Oh ye of little faith… I mean really, you’d think I would have learned by now that God can show me Joy whenever/wherever… no matter the season.
February 16th we went with some friends all the way to Steamboat, Colorado. Ben and I had never been on a winter vacation but our friends were showing us the ropes. Shortly after our flight landed we headed to the mountain to reserve our ski rentals. If you’ve ever been skiing you know that all the rentals are different colors and styles so you don’t get your skis mixed up with someone else’s on the mountain.
As we sat at the rental place getting our boots fitted and all our ski gear together my friend Shelly and I were sitting down waiting on the rest of the crew to finish up. I looked to the left and there sat a set of our skies. They had tiny little letters written at the foot… I know you’ve already guessed what those letters were…
J-O-Y. I hit Shelly’s arm and said “Oh my gosh, look what’s on these skis.” We laughed and I just sat there… grateful, in awe, and absolutely in love with my sweet Jesus and the fact that he cares enough to surround me with Joy.
No matter the season, no matter the place, I choose to find joy in my circumstances!
